Introduction

When you decide to build a carrier deck diorama, where aircrafts are placed on the deck, you'll face the problem of the Tie Down points, chains, and other details that usually not included in the diorama bases.

White Ensign Models offers a nice set to solve this problem, in two scales: 1/72 and 1/48.

First Impressions

The packaging was convincing as usual. The fret is placed in the usual WEM envelope with a cardboard to strengthen the pack for the long trip to your workbench.

Overview

Today's dioramas has more and more details and accuracy, so if you want to make your one to look like the real thing, you have to use these parts, at least the Tie Down Points. If you want to display your plane parked, then it's highly recommended to use the tie-down assemblies and other appropriate parts provided in these kits. I'm not sure that the PE chain is the best solution in 1/48, but it's still better than using a wire or not using anything. I'm sure that if you paint it a bit thicker, and pose it right, than it gives you a satisfying solution. If you don't want to use it, you can replace it with real chain, and you can still use the tie-down mechanism on the end, it's looking really nice!

The kit contains the following parts to enhance your Diorama:

Parts
WWII Tie Down Strips for Wooden Decks
Aircraft Fuselage Picketing Rings
Modern USN Carrier Deck Padeyes
Chain Lashings
Nylon Strap Lashings
Chain Lashing Attachment Hooks
Nylon Strap Lashing Attachment Hooks
Aircraft Undercarriage Leg Picketing Loops

The number of parts are a little bit different in the two scales, but you'll have enough to display your aircraft.

Conclusion

This set is very nice as usual, and it's very handy if you're about to build carrier deck dioramas from any era. A big advantage of this kit, that you'll have several nice parts independently of what era is your diorama from.
