Brand: Hasegawa
Scale: 1/48
Modeler: Kelly Quirk
AddOns: Black Box Seats

Introduction

Hasegawa has done their usual great job with this new kit. I had no real problems with construction, other than some minor seam work and rescribing. The intakes are tricky, but fit nicely with some careful planning and gluing. The kit provides positionable flaps, and an option to cut and fold the wings.

Construction

In the cockpit, I scratchbuilt some sidewall detail, used resin seats from Black Box, and added photoetch MFD's – the kit consoles are strangely lacking them.

I used the kit provided drop tanks, AIM-9X's, and AMRAAM's, decorated with TwoBob's missile markings. The JDAM's came from a Hasegawa weapon set.

The model was painted with Model Master enamels, and an oil wash was applied to bring out the panel lines. Touch up spots of varying shades were added to simulate maintenance. Kit decals were used and went on with no trouble.

Painting and Weathering

The kit goes together very well and the decals are pretty good. I finished it with Model Master enamels and a was with artist oils and ground up pastels.

Hope you enjoy the photos.
