I used Italeri´s 1/72 F6F-5N kit. I modified the cockpit area adding details to the side panels and by building an almost completely new seat, completed with belts and structure. I also detailed the aft wall.

A main difference between -3 and -5 models is that the latter hasn´t got the windows behind the cockpit and it has a different set of guns.

From a clear overhead sheet I cut out two small windows and used a stretched plastic tube for the guns.

The model is painted with a Humbrol and MM enamels. Decals are from SuperScale. I primed the model with a neutral grey, then preshaded with MM black and then applied the three-tone camo.

Weathering is done with water colors mixed with water and dish soap. I used oil paints and pastel chalk for the exhaust and gun stains.
For the antenna wire I used some stretched black spruce I found in my spare box.
