This is a great 1/32 Scale Corsair kit modified with Black Boxes Cockpit update kit. Painted with Model Masters Acrylic paints and enamel black wash. I work as an Aircraft Technician for The Ohio Air National Guard so I guess as far as military aircraft go I have been around for at least the last 24 years. The F4U-1D has always been a favorite of mine I can’t tell you how many of the old revell kits I have built in my 32 years as a model builder.
For this model it was finally nice to see another company tackle this replica in 1/32nd scale. The model itself is a nice version although the design of the cockpit could have been a bit more detail especially when you factor the high cost of the Trumpeter models. To this it is nice to see the after market companies such as Verlinden and Black Box turning out great resin detail kits for replacing the stock kit cockpit.
I was a bit disappointed it the hinge points of this kit as it pertains to the flaps and I think the wing folds could be improved upon, the rest of the kit is rather nice. In constructing this kit I had to modify the cowling flaps as the kit supplied ones are at the wrong gap angle between the cowling flaps. All in all this is a very nice kit and even built
straight out of the box it would not be a disappointment.
