Flight deck and Island structure

Other than the lines for the deck everything is just about complete. The Island still needs the watertight doors put on. I have them and will add them on in the next few days. The 40mm bofors are in place both fore and aft of the Island. I was very happy with the way these turned out. There are a few other pieces that need to go on. Mostly just the radar but the SK2 has been installed. You can see it just above the the flight tower facing to the rear. I have included a close up for you to see the detail. thanks to Tom'smodelworks once again for providing such GREAT products in 1/144 scale. Too bad they don't make more things like that.

The Hanger Deck

I decided to get a little crazy on this project so I left the hanger doors open along the ship in some areas for people to see what goes on down below the flight deck. I used LED lighting for the inside. There are 8-9 lights that run throughout the Hanger deck that run off of two D cell batteries. Estimated life span for the batteries is about 40-50 hrs per set. There is going to be a push button switch that will allow the viewer to turn the lights on and off as they see fit. This will also save the life of the batteries as well.

The inside of the Hanger deck is filled with SBD Dauntless's, F4F Wilcats, SB2U Helldivers, and a TBF Avenger that is being repaired by the mechanics. I have provided pictures off all of these so I hope you will enjoy looking at them as much as I do. Be sure to notice all of the detail and activity going on inside the Hanger Deck as well. There is a lot to see!
